How to properly search for cables in the wall? Step-by-step guide
Even the best detector will not help if you use it incorrectly. To avoid false readings, follow these four rules:
- Calibrate the device: Before you start searching, place the detector against the wall in a place where you are absolutely sure there is nothing underneath (away from sockets and switches). Turn on the device and let it adjust to the density and humidity of the given plaster.
- Turn on power consumption: Most detectors locate electrical cables by their electromagnetic field. If the line supplies an empty socket, the field will be too weak.
